Simon Wood, Wine International Magazine – :
It shows pleasing hints of toffee, butter, spice and melon, and puts an emphasis more on richness of texture rather than out-and-out fruit. One of those wines that really grow on you.

Peter Shaw, Wine Writer, Waikato Times – :
…a clean, crisp wine with tightly structured characters and a bone-dry finish. There is subtle fruit, astringency and a balanced, clean finish to the palate

Sue Courtney, www.wineoftheweek.com – :
… a fresh, crisp wine with a delicately fruity aroma. Flavours of pear, apple and feijoa … and a warming vinous texture that worked well with the food.

Michael Cooper, Buyers Guide to NZ Wines – :
“The 2007 vintage is full-bodied and dry, in a restrained but attractive style with a slightly oily texture and fresh, lemony flavours that linger well.”

Bob Campbell – :
“A dry and rather savoury pinot gris with classical but subtle varietal flavours of pear and lanolin. The wine’s texture appeals even more than the taste. It is mouth-filling and silken. A lingering finish leaves a pleasantly drying and slightly astringent finish. Quite a complex wine in a style that is more European than New World.”

Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier – :
A developing bouquet with aromas of yellow apple and paoched pears, yellow plums and soft spices. On the palate – dry with flavours that reflect the nose; there’s a lightly oily texture that enhances the fruit flavours and medium acidity. This wine has developed into a drink now style – so enjoy through 2014 and Summer 2015. Food orientated.

Estate-grown at Mahurangi, north of Auckland, the 2012 vintage is currently on sale. Bright, light yellow, it is a full-bodied, dry style (2grams/litre of residual sugar), with ripe, peachy, lemony flavours, showing bottle-aged complexity, and a finely textured, well-rounded finish. A distinctive wine, it’s drinking well now.
